For managing what was a very traumatic project for us incredibly sensitively and caringly, and leaving us with a brand new house which is as if anything more beautiful than the one we lost. The quality of the build is superb, the management of the project was highly efficient and all the details are just spot on. Every single member of the team was unfailingly polite and professional, but also caring and friendly. We simply could not have asked for better in any respect.

Having visited several of their extremely satisfied clients, TJD came highly recommended. From the first meeting they have been smartly dressed, punctual, polite, conscientious and have displayed a high level of workmanship. On occasion we have emailed TJD late in the evening and it was not unusual to receive a response that same night and the necessary action to have been taken the following morning. There have been tradesmen on site 6 days a week throughout. Breaks were taken at set times and no-one left site before 4:30pm.

Originally quoted 24 weeks for the project, we pessimistically added another month or two on in our own minds. Due to harvest looming, we explained we would appreciate anything they could do to speed up the job. Much to our surprise and delight they completed the job 6 weeks ahead of their schedule. Regular weekly meetings were always informative and efficient. Office staff were friendly and always returned calls. We were extremely happy with the way they tolerated young children and very old pets in a friendly and easy going manner.

All work remained within the original budget and any extras were clearly advised on easy to read paperwork before the work was undertaken. TJD have managed to dispel any fears we had regarding the building trade and we will certainly be the first builders we contact for future work. We have happily recommended them and have had many people stop outside the house and compliment us on the fantastic job they have done.

TJD Builders deserve to be Master Builder of the Year because not only do they produce an excellent standard of work but on a personal level I have found them all to be friendly, approachable and easy to work with. Any problems were always dealt with quick and efficiently on site and resolved immediately. Budgeting and costs were reviewed regularly. TJD Builders would always go out of their way to help other contractors on site and settle problems with neighbours. I felt they took care of me and my property as a whole and they always realised that now the job is completed reflected personally on them. I look forward to working with them again in the future.

We decided to have an extension built, because we felt that our eldest son, who has an autistic spectrum disorder, needed his own room. We also recognized the need to open up the kitchen/dining area, so we could always see George in the garden, while we were busy in the kitchen. TJD Builders worked closely with us and we always had a schedule to work from. This way we could prepare George for any disruption. This worked especially well, when the builders had to do the knock through and we needed to move out for a while. Every member of the company were polite, courteous and considerate. The children always looked forward to seeing the staff and were particularly fond of two of the ground workers, Paul and Martin. The workmanship was faultless and we are now enjoying our improved house very much.

The brief included a total facelift and modernisation to this 1969 monopitch design bungalow, by extension and alteration including timber boarding with traditional beading to produce a colonial new England style house. Drainage was rather a special issue because the threshold was below street and drive level. This was treated by creating a fall to the driveway drainage channel and construction of a feature retaining wall, a two level garden with 5 parking bays, and with it uncommon kerb appeal.

We found Tim Drayton a good team leader. Nothing too much trouble a ready attitude to seize a problem and resolve it, e.g. Early conversion of the garage to utility room provided kitchen and laundry facilities so that we could continue living in the house during major modernisation and fitting out. TJD actively facilitated changes to design, making own suggestions.

Before accepting the tender price, we did a credit check on TJD and were put off by a low credit rating. However we found that this was simply that he used no credit card and that the company was financially sound. This gave us the comfort of knowing that they could complete the contract without letting us down. In acting as contract administrator I had to deal with all the tradesmen on site and found myself able to develop a good rapport with all. The clarity of the accounts was notable, the office staff helpful and, most importantly, the boss himself always readily accessible.

TJD have shown the highest levels of professionalism during our building project. The quality of work is to the highest standard and if we felt that something was not quite right TJD would make sure that the job was done to our satisfaction. Tim in particular has an attitude that encompasses 'the customer/client is always right' and this really makes working with him a real pleasure. We are currently planning addition work on our property and intend to use TJD to do the work. I think that pretty much sums up our view of the company!

TJD Building Contractors Ltd are an exceptionally well-run, organized and efficient company. They are large enough to undertake projects such as ours with ease, yet small enough to retain a strong sense of camaraderie and team-spirit among the staff. Everyone was friendly, highly skilled and appeared to take genuine pride in their work. The director, Tim Drayton, is blessed with exemplary man-management skills, applying them to both his staff and clients alike. Under his leadership, the whole operation ran like clock-work, even the one or two inevitable mishaps did not disrupt the project and a compromise was always reached. We were very nervous before the start of our building project, yet after hiring TJD I now wonder what all the fuss was about.
